No one here knows

I studied in a seminary.

The key to my success

Patience. People need time to settle in before they'll say what they really think.

4.5 · Contact Sphere Planning

Who naturally refers me business

Executive coach is the only part of my contact sphere already seated in the chapter — any of the rest would help, and I haven't narrowed it to three yet.

My contact sphere

  1. Executive coach — nonprofit or business
  2. Life coach for people in the professions
  3. Management coach or consultant
  4. Executive headhunter
  5. Consultant who works with nonprofit boards
  6. Psychotherapist
  7. Political campaign specialist
  8. Educational pedagogy developer
  9. Publication / writing agent
  10. Academic or education coach

4.6 · Ideal Clients

Who I do my best work with

The practice is new, so this is who it's built for rather than a client list.

  1. Leaders who want to cultivate more humane and democratic decision-making and working relationships
  2. Executives and boards running a real decision-making process — one where the answer isn't settled in advance
  3. Executives and managers at medium-sized businesses or nonprofits wanting to close the feedback loop between listening and acting
  4. Listening and collaboration professionals — nurses, doctors, teachers, social workers, therapists, school administrators
  5. Curriculum designers and educators building work around attention, listening and collaboration
  6. Writers on long-term projects — academic, fiction or popular non-fiction — who would benefit from a process coach
  7. People who don't want to lose their souls to dehumanising conditions but can't yet see a path forward

Not a fit

  • Executives or managers in large, impersonal corporations
  • Executives or managers who actively dislike their own people
  • Anyone who isn't self-motivated to learn and change — self-motivation isn't sufficient for change, but it is essential
